To experience Autumn to the fullest, we’re inspired to hit the road to the following destinations:

Blue Ridge Parkway, The Carolinas, and Virginia

*eH insight: As part of the Appalachian Mountain Range, the Blue Ridge Parkway spans from Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and George. One of our favorite activities include attending the Tennessee Fall Homecoming held each October in Clinton, TN. After feasting on traditional Southern foods, experiencing demonstrations of living life as a pioneer from days long ago. Evenings are spent tapping our toes to traditional mountain music – a combination of bluegrass and gospel – which provides comfort for our soul.

Yosemite National Park

* eH Insight: While the beauty and wonder of the Yosemite National Park is a treat in itself, we highly recommend that you do not leave without stopping at the lovely Yosemite Bookstore. Not only will you find the traditional gift shop items but also replicas of museum quality pieces that represent the story of the region. We also love that each purchase made continues to support the park by providing funds to repair trails, restore habitats, protect the wildlife and more to ensure the park will still be there for generations to come.

17-Mile Drive, California

*eH insight: This drive consists of 17 miles of pure bliss full of dramatic coastal cliffs, snow-white beaches, mystical forests and iconic golf courses. We encourage you to follow your wanderlust as you view the Lone Cypress, explore the giant trees at Crocker Gove, experience the untouched beauty at Fanshell Beach, experience the power of the Restless Sea at Point Joe or stroll the boardwalk above the beach at Spanish Bay. Each moment along the drive is a delight for your senses and a memory you will never forget.

Snowmass, Colorado 

*eH insider: To experience fall foliage in all its glory, we highly recommend packing your hiking boots and heading on outdoors to take a guided hike through the woods and experience all of the beauty and wonder of the vibrant gold Aspen trees and cooler temperatures.

Yellowstone National Park

*eH insight: Autumn is a great time to experience Yellowstone National Park if you want to truly see Mother Nature at her best. Pack your bike and hit the trail to see the park from a new perspective. If you prefer to fish, some of the best fishing of the season occurs in October and November as the big fish begin to move out of their lairs and become quite active as they search for the perfect winter spot. In addition, the animals are on the move as the Elk begin to migrate from grasslands, the bears are actively foraging for nuts and berries to keep in their dens as they prepare for hibernation and the bison migrate to their winter feeding grounds.

Once you’ve set your destination, the tricky part becomes making reservations. Today, there are endless resources to help find you the perfect getaway. If you’re looking to rent a charming cottage nestled in the woods, or a modern private home for a few days, using apps such as Airbnb or Vrbo may help you find the perfect hidden gem. Traditional hotels, RV campsites and even “glamping” destinations all provide unique opportunities for you as well, as you venture out to the great outdoors.
